Registration is closed

The registration closed on January 2nd. Due to the many registrations, we are unfotunately not able to take any late registrations.

Do not forget to register to the conference before the last day for registrations, January 2nd, 2009!

Since the interest for the conference has been high, we cannot guarantee accommodation at the conference hotel. All single rooms are booked.

Please indicate in the registration form if you have any room-mate wishes. Note that it is possible to share a double room on three persons to a lower price per person (write that in the “I want to share room with” box).

Abstracts for oral and poster presentations should be sent to us no later than 15th of December. Please send them to abstract_NOR2009@arbetsplats.slu.se in English and Scandinavian or Finnish.

Third announcement – NOR-conference 2009

“Reindeer husbandry and the surrounding world”

The 15th Nordic Conference on Reindeer and Reindeer Husbandry Research will be held in Luleå, Sweden 26-29 January, 2009.

The conference includes 6 oral sessions and 2 poster sessions. New is that 3 workshops will be arranged in connection to the conference. A preliminary programme is now available on the web site (see below).

Participants are invited to give oral and/or poster presentations and to participate in the workshops. Besides relevant scientific contributions on the session topics, we invite contributions from industries and organisations on issues related to reindeer husbandry.

Last date for payment of low registration fee and registration of presentations is December 1, 2008. Last date for abstract submission is December 15, 2008. Registration closes on January 2, 2009.

15th Nordic Conference on Reindeer and Reindeer Husbandry Research

NOR’s 15th conference will be held in Sweden in January 2009

In due time (early autumn 2008) you will find invitation, programme and information about the registration in NOR’s web pages www.rangifer.no.

Participants are invited to give oral or poster presentations on all relevant topics concerning reindeer and reindeer husbandry. Talks will be in English or Scandinavian (Swedish or Norwegian). Posters will be in English.
There will be several main sessions:

  • Climate in general and more specifically, harsh winters
  • Predators and reindeer husbandry
  • Infrastructure disturbance and habitat loss, more specifically wind power, mines, hunting and tourism
  • Forestry, more specifically about relations between forestry and reindeer husbandry
  • More general about conflict solution
  • Poster session

This is the (soon to be) official website for the 15th Nordic Conference on Reindeer and Reindeer Husbandry Research. The conference will take place in Luleå, Sweden in the last week of Januari 2009 and are organized by NOR and the Reindeer Husbandry Unit, SLU.

The theme of the conference is

Reindeer husbandry and the surrounding world

This conference puts focus on the relationship between the reindeer husbandry and climate changes, predators, infrastructure, other land users and conflicts in general. This conference aims at presenting and discussing challanges and different possible solutions. Everybody interested in these issues or reindeer related subjects in general are invited to participate.

This site will be updated regularly with all relevant information about the conference. It is possible to subscribe to all posts in this news feed by RSS (see link in the top right corner). Information about RSS and how to subscribe can be found here.
