Poster presentations instructions
Posters will be displayed during the whole conference and presented in “speed-talks” during oral sessions (see below). There will be several short sessions for viewing the posters.
Posters
Posters should be written in English.
Maximum size of a poster is 75 cm broad and 100 cm high. The poster should be easily readable from a distance of about 2 meters (see also guidelines and links below).
Upon arrival at the conference, poster presenters will receive directions to boards marked with their individual poster ID number. Drawing pins will be provided and are the only accepted type of fastener on the boards.
The time of the poster sessions will be shown in the program. Be sure to be available for questions at your poster during “your” poster session.
Speed-talks
Posters will be orally presented in two-minute “speed-talks” in the conference lecture hall. Please prepare one power-point slide (alt. a jpg or gif file with size suitable for transformation into a power point slide) for the “speed-talk” presentation. Send the slide to the organisers in an e-mail to poster_NOR2009@arbetsplats.slu.se on January 16, 2009, at the latest. The name of the file should start with the first author’s or presenter’s surname and initials, as e.g. “WhiteAA.ppt”. Please use the name of the file (surname and initials) as e-mail subject.
On arrival at the conference, make sure to check the time for your “speed-talk”. Contact the chairperson of your “speed-talk” session (shown in the program) prior to the session.
Helpful hints about poster design:
The key objective of a poster is to provide a brief and clear overview of your work so that people, who are really interested, can ask you for more information. Loading your poster with too much information and non-relevant adornment might be counter-productive. Use clear, large fonts, simple graphics and pictures when available and necessary.

Oral presentations instructions
Oral presentations should be given in English or a Scandinavian language. If the oral presentation is in Scandinavian it should be accompanied by a presentation in English in Microsoft PowerPoint format. For oral presentations in English, the PowerPoint presentation could be in Swedish or Norwegian. If you work in some other software, please arrange to convert it to PowerPoint format prior to submission. There will also be equipment available for using overhead transparencies.
The talks will be 10-20 minutes depending on the number of presentations in the particular session and with additional time for questions and discussion. Information about details will be sent to you in due time before the conference.
Submission
To upload your final version of a presentation in advance, please send the PowerPoint file by e-mail to oral_NOR2009@arbetsplats.slu.se. The name of the PowerPoint file should start with the first author’s or presenter’s surname and initials, as e.g. “WhiteAA.ppt”. Please use the name of the file (surname and initials) as e-mail subject.
If you have not sent in your presentation in advance, please provide a copy, preferably on a USB memory stick or USB memory drive, to the conference organisers on arrival to the conference. Please contact the chairperson of your session (shown in the program) prior to the session.
How to prepare a power point presentation
There are several web sites that provide advice on how to prepare a PowerPoint presentation. In short, however, keep your slides simple, use as little text as possible and use large legible fonts for what text you use, illustrate with pictures or simple graphics as much as possible, and avoid large complex tables and equations. Restrict the number of slides to the minimum number necessary. One slide per two minutes of talk is often recommended as a rule of thumb.
